2010 Audition Information

The Austin Young Concert Artists is searching for gifted young musicians who live within a 50 mile radius of Austin and study with teachers from the Austin metropolitan area to participate in a gala concert. Pianists, instrumentalists and vocalists with their accompanists, and small vocal and instrumental ensembles are invited to audition. Previous winners are eligible. All participants and accompanists chosen will be considered winners and will receive a monetary scholarship award and a commemorative certificate. They will also be eligible for scholarships through the Austin Chamber Music Center. No critiques will be given. The auditions are closed to the public. The decisions of the judges are final.

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants and members of small ensembles must be in grades Kindergarten through grade 12 and reside within a 50 mile radius of the greater Austin area. Music must be standard classical repertoire from one of the four main periods (Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Contemporary) that meet the time requirements specified below. Other than chamber music, all performances must be memorized. Pianists: no concerti allowed. Instrumentalists: solo and concerti movements are acceptable. Chamber ensembles are allowed a maximum of eight members. Performers must provide their own accompanists. If this is a problem, please contact Martha MacDonald as soon as possible by . Time requirements: Pianists - 8 minutes or less; all others - 10 minutes or less. Those elected to perform at the Gala Concert are expected to participate in at least two outreach concerts during the two-year period following the Gala Concert.

APPLICATIONS:    Soloist | Ensemble Solo performers and soloists with accompanists should fill out and mail the Soloist form. Chamber ensemble members should each fill out and mail an Ensemble form.
